Ponagar Cham Towers – A destination rich in cultural heritage

Located in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province—home to a rich collection of scenic landscapes and historical landmarks—the Po Nagar Cham Towers stand out as a long-standing symbol of cultural heritage and history. With a history spanning more than a millennium, this remarkable complex not only impresses with its distinctive architecture but also reflects the profound legacy of an ancient civilization. As a result, it has become a must-visit destination, attracting both domestic and international travelers.

Located about 2 kilometers north of the city center, now within Nha Trang Ward, the name “Po Nagar Tower” is commonly used to refer to the entire complex. In fact, it originally denotes the largest tower, which stands approximately 23 meters tall. The temple was constructed during a period when Hinduism was flourishing in the Champa Kingdom, then known as Hoan Vuong. For this reason, the statue of the goddess takes the form of Uma, the consort of Shiva.

Also known as Thap Ba or Thien Y Holy Tower, the site is perched on Cu Lao Hill, overlooking the gentle Cai River in the heart of coastal Nha Trang. From this vantage point, the eastern view opens up to a lively seaport filled with numerous docked fishing boats.

Located just about 3 kilometers from the city center, the Po Nagar Towers are easily accessible by motorbike or taxi, offering both convenience and affordability. The simplest route is to head toward Tran Phu Street, continue straight to Tran Phu Bridge, cross the bridge, then turn left onto Thap Ba Street. Follow the road to the end, where a large sign clearly marks the entrance to the site.

Notes for visiting Po Nagar Cham Towers:
